A recently released survey from Environment America has placed Louisiana at the forefront of transit ridership growth. Louisiana, along with South Carolina, experienced a 16 percent increase in the amount of people who use public transportation in the year 2008. Nationwide, transit ridership grew 4 percent in 2008.
According to Rob McCulloch, Environment America transportation advocate, Louisiana saw similar trends in the first half of 2009.
