Student Health Center officials say they are still seeing many students with flu symptoms and have diagnosed at least a dozen students with Type A influenza since the start of school.
Julie Hupperich, associate director of the Health Center, said 69 students tested positive for Type A influenza between Aug. 10 and Aug. 20.
She said the Health Center has not tallied the exact number of students since then.
Hupperich said she is seeing more students outside the Greek community being exposed to the H1N1 virus and pointed to the increased number of students on campus as the likely culprit,
Hupperich said between May 1 and Aug. 9, the Health Center only saw 10 positive cases. She said the real outbreak seemed to hit after students began to arrive.
She said the rate at which the virus will spread depends mostly on the students and whether they take care to stay healthy and isolate themselves when they are sick.
