JACKSON, Miss. (AP)—Mississippi State center Jarvis Varnado is in the hospital undergoing tests after falling ill during a morning workout.
Varnado felt nauseous and was first taken to a doctor Monday before being moved to a hospital in Tupelo for tests.
Though the illness is not considered serious, a spokesman says the school is taking “every precautionary measure” with the Southeastern Conference tournament MVP.
The spokesman, Gregg Ellis, says doctors believe initially that Varnado’s illness can be attributed to exhaustion and a bad diet.
Varnado is one of this year’s premier returning seniors after two years as the nation’s leading shot blocker.
