BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana’s education superintendent said Tuesday that the state should take control of 10 failing public schools, in an attempt to improve performance and better educate their 4,500 students. Eight of the schools recommended for takeover by state Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek are in Baton Rouge, while two others are in Caddo Parish in northwest Louisiana. “If you look at many of these schools, they have been failing for 10 years. We have to do something,” Pastorek said.
