WASHINGTON (AP) — Law enforcement officials have begun closing entrances to the inauguration parade route because it is reaching capacity.
Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley said the entrance at 13th and E streets has closed for the day. The entrance at 14th and E is closed temporarily.
More than 1 million people have packed the National Mall and along historic Pennsylvania Avenue, where newly sworn President Barack Obama and his party will make their way to the White House at 2:30 p.m.
The 1.5-mile route begins on Pennsylvania Avenue near the Capitol and ends in front of the White House.
The Secret Service planned for about 300,000 to 350,000 people to be allowed in the area. People began arriving at 7 a.m.
