LSU running back Lanard Fournette was arrested for using a false ID to gamble at L’Auberge Casino in Baton Rouge on Monday according to an affidavit provided by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
The affidavit states Fournette, 20, was spotted by security cameras at the “craps table” at approximately 1:33 p.m. Fournette stayed at the table for 16 minutes before walking to the player’s services counter. At the counter Fournette presented his real identification to a cashier, who called security after examining the identification.
Fournette said to casino security personnel that he entered the casino using someone else’s ID.
Fournette was detained by security, but left the casino prior to the arrival of the Louisiana State Police Gaming and Enforcement division.
Fournette was charged with “Unlawful Use of State Issued Identification to Gain Access to a Gaming Establishment or in Conjunction with Gaming Activities” and “Gaming Prohibited for Persons Under 21.” Both charges carry up six months in prison and a max fine of five hundred.
He was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Monday, and was released on $1,000 bond according to a report by WAFB.
Fournette, the younger brother former Tiger Leonard Fournette, is the second LSU football player to be arrested in 2017.
The redshirt sophomore rushed five times for 13 yards for the Tigers in 2016, and was expected to have an increased role in Matt Canada’s new offense.
