The LSU Tiger Band will present at the College Band Directors National Association National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, from March 15-18.
The Tiger Band is one of eight collegiate marching bands chosen by the committee for exceptional performances, according to a press release. The committee selected the Tiger Band after reviewing the “NOLA” marching show, which featured songs such as “Second Line,” “Do Whatcha Wanna” and “When the Saints Go Marching In,” the release said.
LSU School of Music Director of Bands Damon Talley will give the presentation, which will cover the historical background, development and direction of the show. A question and answer session with the other band directors at the conference will follow.
“I think this recognition is, in part, due to the fortitude of the students in the Tiger Band,” said drum major Daniel Wendt. “It goes to show the type character our members have – no matter the circumstance we strive toward excellence on and off the field.”
