LSU Athletics has invested $4 million to bring the newest and most innovative HD TVs to Tiger Stadium, Alex Box and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
“It’s a great upgrade for our fans,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said in a press release. “We know they want it and they deserve it. We are especially pleased to invest in a system that is this state-of-the-art and will allow us a lot of flexibility for years to come.”
The outdated TVs in each venue have been a major complaint among LSU fans for many years. The PMAC will be the first venue to see the new TVs and they should be completely installed by mid-December. The TVs in Alex Box will also be installed and ready to use before the Tigers season opener in February.
Lastly, once the old wiring is removed from Tiger Stadium, a new infrastructure will need to be installed to support the new system. The final phase should be complete by next season’s opener against Southeastern Louisiana.
“Tiger Stadium wasn’t exactly wired for this,” said Emmett David, Associate Athletics Director for Facility & Project Development in a press release. “It’s a massive upgrade and requires a lot of technological and infrastructure improvements to be performed. Once fully installed, our fans will enjoy a crystal-clear picture, stats, college football updates and much more.”
