On July 15, LSUPD arrested a man for attempted second degree murder, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Joshua Wilton Brian, 33, was arrested after police determined the drugs he had given a victim caused him to overdose.
LSUPD responded to a call on July 14 that reported an unresponsive 25-year-old male in the men’s restroom of the LSU Digital Media Center on campus. The victim had a syringe stuck in his arm and police also found a spoon and lighter in the bathroom stall.
Police were able to resuscitate the victim from what was determined to be a heroin overdose.
Upon interviewing the victim, LSUPD found that he was given an unknown amount of heroin for free from a male who he believed was named “John” at the Digital Media Center.
LSUPD identified Wilton as an employee of EA Sports in the Digital Media Center when they showed his photo to EA Sports staff.
The victim positively identified Brian in a photographic lineup.
Upon locating and arresting Brian on East State Street and conducting a search of the backpack he possessed, police found methamphetamine and several items commonly used to inject heroin, the affidavit said.
Brian was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on July 15 on the charges of attempted second degree murder, possession of schedule II drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, among others.
