As LSU perpares to take on Troy his weekend, the Tigers will have to tighten up on defense.
Their opponents have averaged 297 yards of total offense per game, a figure that looks good on a stat sheet, but one that is highly skewed due to a defensive performance against BYU that is looking more and more like an outlier.
Troy’s offense come’s into Tiger Stadium averaging 448 yards per game, running an offense much like Syracuse’s, which gave the young defense problems last Saturday.
Head Coach Ed Orgeron’s defensive focus has been consistency. But also eliminating momentum-swinging plays for the opposition.
“[We need to] play great defense for four quarters, not for two quarters,” Orgeron said. “Eliminate the big plays. We have given up too many big plays. We have too many busts on defense.”
The Tigers will take on the Trojans in homecoming game this Saturday in a game that is looking more and more like one that may be closer than Tiger fans may be hoping for.
Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
