The LSU Tiger Football team is back this weekend and ready to hit the field.
The game against the BYU Cougars will be Coach Ed Orgeron’s debut as the Tigers head coach.
But Orgeron says that he won’t let his nerves show.
“Come Saturday there will be some thoughts. There will be a little bit of nervousness coming in but I can’t let nobody know it. It will be inside, I can’t let it show outside.”
Orgeron announced Danny Etling would be returning as the starting quarterback last week.
Coach Orgeron says Etling is a hard worker on and off the field.
“The players love him, he is hard working, he’s got a blue collar attitude, he is always in with the offensive linemen. Like I said, he is always eating with the offensive linemen, always studying, always coaching the new guys. I am sure he is a good guy. Danny would be a part of your family or you’d like him to date your daughter. He is that type of young man.”
Coach Orgeron and Etling will have the chance to show their hard work on Saturday.
But Orgeron says the team is going to take the season one step at a time.
“We always want to end up with a great season here at LSU. And that is the tradition of LSU and we always want to go to a great bowl, we always want to be in the National Championship hunt. That is not what we are talking about on a daily basis. We talk about the process and we are going to climb the ladder one step at a time. This is the first step in the ladder which we want to get to the top and as we all know, we got to focus on that first step because we can’t miss on the first step. That is all we focus on right now.”
We will see how the tradition is held up this weekend.
