Conscious Culture, The Blak Hippie and Seaux LA will come together for the first time Friday for 5th Dimension Underworld, an EDM experience like no other.
DJ Slugga, Swiger and Guru Dre, were hand-picked to DJ the event and mix well together to create a great sound.
“[We’re] bringing the conscious family together and spreading the message of positive energy and love,” Seaux LA co-founder Keith Fort, known by his stage name DJ Slugga, said. “We just want people to come out and dance and have a blast doing it.”
Seaux LA is “a of artists driven to promote local music and art to Louisianians and the world,” Fort said. “We keep creativity and self expression at the top of our interest.”
The organization has been around for two years, with Fort and Bruce Q. Williams as the co-founders. Fort said people can expect to see an outstanding performance and a “blend of true spirits and souls” at 5th Dimension. The duo plans to hold an event once a month to expose local artists.
“We are an open platform establishment,” Fort said. “If you are not into the EDM side of music, we will provide all sides of music.”
Conscious Culture hopes to bring people together by “spreading the message of peace and love and happiness,” no matter one’s background.
“We want to make this an experience to remember and to stamp an imprint into the face of Baton Rouge saying, ‘We believe in our community,’” Fort said.
Blak Hippie is another movement, which represents the “starving Disc Jockeys and artists that are dying to get their music or art out [but] not given a chance.” These movements are contributing to Baton Rouge by creating a place where everyone can feel comfortable to display and enjoy music and art.
“I’ve been inside the underground community since I was in middle school,” Fort said. “Bruce Williams [and I] already had this mapped out from the beginning. It’s just now our turn on the wave and to give back what this beautiful community gave us — joy.”
5th Dimension also includes a special performance by flow artist collective Baton Rouge Fire Guild, glow in the dark face painting and a live canvas painting by local muralist Skinny Dope. Additionally, there will be a pop up shop featuring up-and-coming Louisiana artists and designers Pauly Steez, Xoxaine N Xandy and Who Cares Clothing.
5th Dimension will be held this Friday, Jan. 27, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at The Spanish Moon. The cost of entry is $10, and the first 50 people to arrive will be entered in a gift giveaway.
