Saturday night the LSU Tigers gymnastics team defeated Texas Woman’s University with a final score of 197.475 to 192.625.
The Tigers competed in front of 11,532 fans, the fourth largest crowd in LSU gymnastics history.
Senior Ashleigh Gnat scored a 9.925 on the floor and the beam, while sophomore Sarah Finnegan scored a 9.925 on the bars and the beam.
“In light of the fact that it was so hard to get a 9.9 tonight, I felt very good when the score went up and we ended up with a 197.475, almost a 197.5,” said LSU head coach D-D Breaux.
“I was very pleased with it, and I think the team was too. They had to dig down deep tonight.”
Freshman and British Olympian Ruby Harrold made her collegiate debut during the meet and scored a 9.875 on the bars.
“It was nice to just take a step back and just stand on the outside and see what it’s all about,” Harrold said.
“It’s nothing like anything we have at home. Like I said, it was so good to just finally be out there. I had so much fun. It was a great experience.”
The Tigers are now 3-0 for the season and earned their 23rd consecutive home win. They travel to Lexington next to face Kentucky on January 27.
