The No. 2 LSU gymnastics team (4-0, 3-0 SEC) rolled past No. 6 University of Kentucky (2-2, 1-2 SEC) in Memorial Coliseum Friday.
This was LSU’s third top-ten meet this season.
LSU scored an overall score of 197.425, while Kentucky fell short, scoring a 195.725.
LSU clinched all event titles, with freshman all-arounder Kennedi Edney scoring a 9.950 on beam, junior all-arounder Myia Hambrick scoring a 9.950 on floor, senior Ashleigh “Bugs” Gnat scoring a 9.925 on vault.
Edney and sophomore bars anchor Lexie Priessman scored a 9.925 on bars.
LSU struggled on vault, scoring a 49.100 with Gnat scoring a 9.925. Sophomore Sarah Finnegan had her score dropped for the first time this season after falling from beam and scoring a 9.275. Edney scored a 9.95 and junior Erin Macadaeg and Hambrick scored a 9.90 on beam, respectively.
LSU’s highest event score came from floor, with a total score of 49.550.
Edney won her first all-around debut with a score of 39.625 and Hambrick scored a 38.975. Edney filled in on floor for sophomore McKenna Kelley who started having back pain. Kelley was assisted by her mother and former Olympic gold medalist gymnast, Mary Lou Retton. Edney scored a 9.925 on floor, respectively.
