The LSU track and field teams have climbed up the rankings after a successful showing at the Penn Relays.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its updated team rankings Tuesday. The Lady Tigers are ranked No. 1, overtaking Texas A&M for the top spot.
The Tigers moved up to No. 2 after being ranked No. 9 last week.
Senior Richard Jones leads the NCAA in the 800-meter run with his time of 1 minute, 46.90 seconds. Junior Walter Henning is ranked No. 2 in the hammer throw with a throw of 239 feet, 5 inchs.
The Lady Tigers hold the top three times in the NCAA for the 800-meter run. Senior LaTavia Thomas’ time of 2 minutes, 1.40 seconds gives her the No. 1 spot.
Senior Kayann Thompson is ranked No. 2 with a time of 2 minutes, 3.54 seconds and junior Brittany Hall comes in at No. 3 with a time of 2 minutes, 3.76 seconds.
Senior Samantha Henry is ranked No. 2 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.92 seconds and No. 4 in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.18 seconds. The Lady Tigers also have two No. 2 ranked relays in the 4×100-meter relay and the 4×400-meter relay.
