The LSU baseball team added another win to its perfect resume in the first game of a doubleheader against William and Mary, winning 9-6.
The Tigers (6-0), who rallied from an 8-0 deficit yesterday to beat the Tribe, didn’t have to do quite as much work this time.
Instead, the Tribe (3-2) found themselves behind early as LSU jumped out to a three-run lead going into the fifth.
Sophomore outfielder Trey Watkins was stranded on third base in the fourth inning after blasting a triple. The umpire signaled a home run, but changed it back to a triple, a decision the crowd of 6,686 heartily booed.
The Tribe took the lead in the fifth inning with a four-run effort, but the Tigers wouldn’t be denied, as they also scored four runs in the inning.
Both teams used multiple pitchers in a big hitting game. William and Mary used four pitchers, allowing 13 hits and nine runs.
LSU used five pitchers, allowing 11 hits and six runs.
William and Mary sophomore pitcher Garrison Sarrett (0-1) was charged with the loss. LSU junior pitcher Daniel Bradshaw (2-0) got the win, while sophomore Matty Ott was credited with the save.
