Fleur De Tease Burlesque Revue, the sexy, live performance put on by professionally trained dancers and other talented performers is set to burn up the Bingo! stage at Voodoo Experience Sunday afternoon. Entertainment writer Cathryn Core recently spoke with Trixie Minx, director of the show and dancer, about the performance and the show’s experience at Voodoo.
The Daily Reveille: Fleur De Tease Burlesque Revue is a pretty intriguing title. What kind of show do you put on?
Trixie Minx: Fleur De Tease is a vaudeville inspired burlesque revue that incorporates the feel of a circus with comedy, aerialists, magicians and dancers. Along with the strip tease, we do a lot of group dances.
TDR: Who does the choreography for the show?
TM: Every girl creates her own solo dance through their own creative process, but the majority of the group choreography is done by Madame Mystere.
TDR: Where is Fleur De Tease based?
TM: We are based out of New Orleans, although we do travel. Many of our group members perform internationally and nationally in cities including Chicago, Las Vegas and other cities in the South.
TDR: How long has Fleur De Tease been participating in Voodoo Experience?
TM: We’re very lucky. This will be our fourth year.
TDR: What do you enjoy most about performing at Voodoo?
TM: It’s the highlight of our year. We get to see and perform with so many of our friends and other artists around the city and the world. We get to really show off what we do in New Orleans to a much larger audience than we usually have the opportunity to do.
TDR: Why do you think LSU students should attend your show at Voodoo Experience?
TM: Because we have a great show. No seriously, in Baton Rouge, you’re not allowed to do burlesque, so we highly encourage everyone to drive out to New Orleans to check out the show and see what they’re missing.
TDR: What would you say is the best thing about Fleur De Tease Burlesque Revue?
TM: The best thing about my show is the sort of family experience between the audience and the cast members. We don’t just work together. We really are friends, and it shows from the stage.
