Former executive director of the University’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes Roger Grooters, 66, passed away Wednesday in a bicycle accident, according to a press release from University Media Relations.
Grooters, an avid cyclist, was riding his bicycle on the shoulder of the road in Bay County, Fla. when he was struck by a pickup truck.
Grooters served in the athletic departments at Nebraska, Florida State, Michigan State and the University of Southern California and worked at the LSU from 2001 to 2006.
