LSU softball takes down another team by mercy rule as they secure their 8-0 win over Kent State.
The first two winnings left both teams scoreless. The first score came in the bottom of the third with a single from senior infielder Amanda Sanchez pulling in an two RBIs. This was Sanchez’s 23rd RBI of the season. After that sophomore pitcher Shelbi Sunseri hit her ninth home run of the season to push the Tigers to a 4-0 lead.
Top of the fourth left Kent St. scoreless, but the Tigers gained one more in the bottom with an RBI from junior outfielder Aliyah Andrews. The Tigers went into the fifth inning with 5-0 lead. Kent St. stayed scoreless in the fifth. Bottom of the fifth Tigers got a runner fast after Sanchez got hit by a pitch.
After that Sunseri doubled to right field. Junior infielder Amanda Doyle then slams a home run to bring in two extra runs giving the Tigers a 8-0 lead. This was Doyle’s third home run of the year. This led the Tigers to a 8-0 victory in another walk-off fashion.
The Tiger continue their season March 1, in Tiger Park.
