Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will host “Jeopardy!” through the end of the year.
Bialik, who was originally appointed host of “Jeopardy!” primetime specials and spinoffs back in August, will take the stage regularly beginning Monday Sept. 20 until Nov. 5.
Following that date, “Jeopardy!” all-star Jennings will split hosting duties with Bialik, as their schedules allow, to finish out 2021.
Sony Pictures Entertainment released this latest “Jeopardy!” development Thursday.
The beloved gameshow has been in the headlines several times over the past month, after previously announcing Mike Richards as the permanent, syndicated host.
The Ringer reporter Claire McNear quoted episodes from Richards’ old podcast “The Randumb Show,” which he hosted from 2013-2014. The podcast episodes have since been removed, and Richards issued an apology for the comments.
Production for season 38 of “Jeopardy!” had already begun prior to Richards’ exit. Richards’ taped episodes aired the week of Sept. 13.
Richards’ short run as host was met with controversy from the start after gender bias lawsuits from his time as executive producer of “The Price is Right” resurfaced on social media.
Some “Jeopardy!” fans reacted with backlash following Richards’ promotion to the host seat because of his inside role as the gameshow’s executive producer.
A little over a week after Richards stepped down as host, Sony removed him from his role as executive producer of both “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune.”
Michael Davies, who produces “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” will serve as an interim producer for “Jeopardy!”
In total, 16 “Jeopardy!” guest hosts have graced the stage since longtime host Alex Trebek passed away from pancreatic cancer in November 2020.
