BATON ROUGE-Former All-American and current LSU Assistant Softball Coach, Sahvanna Jaquish, is now training to compete with Team USA at the World Cup of Softball and the Baseball Softball Confederation Women’s World Championship in Japan this Summer.
Jaquish said, “training to compete with team USA is so much fun. The talent level is just ridiculous and [they] have girls from all over our country, just the best athletes from all over the U.S. It’s really exciting, really hard, and really competitive, but [they] are ranked number one in the world right now.”
Head Coach, Beth Torina, appreciates having a former athlete coaching alongside her and said it’s helpful “having somebody that can connect to the players [who is] young and understands what they are going through. It’s also nice having somebody who can say your words in a different way. Plus, she’s been so coachable and has listened to us the whole way.”
Jaquish decided to come back and “coach LSU because [she] loves the program so much and understands it. It’s easy to know the ins and outs of the program and help them out as best as [she] can.”
