Delta Zeta presented the 20th annual Miss LSU-USA Pageant 2018. This event occurred on March 18th in the LSU Union Theatre.
The program included the opening number, the contestant introduction, swim suit competition, evening gown competition, announcement of the category winners, announcement of the top five contestants and crowning of Miss LSU-USA. There were 21 contestants all hoping to claim the crown in the pageant.
Delta Zeta has been named an outstanding chapter on LSU’s campus for the past 10 years, and 2017 was no different. As a chapter, they received Outstanding Non-Philanthropic Event award for their Police Appreciations week where they honor the police men and women who serve on our campus. They also received Outstanding Philanthropy Event for the 2017 Miss LSU USA Pageant.
The 2018 Miss LSU USA is Olivia Rackley. She is a 19-year-old Sports Journalism major.
Rackley entered the pageant to represent the School of Music and the Manship School of Mass Communication. She is the youngest of four children and grew up in a house with two Lt. Colonels as parents.
She is an advocate for mental health and has a special place in her heart for victims of sexual assault. She hopes to continue research on that topic, empowering men and women who have been involved with someone who has been sexual assaulted.
“This was my first pageant, so I was really excited to win best interview and just to have the support of my friends and family here just watching me and making them proud really just warms my heart.” Said Brooklen Farley, first runner up for Miss LSU-USA.
“I just want to encourage women of all different backgrounds and ethnic groups to do Miss LSU or something that makes you afraid, or something that gets you out of your comfort zone.
You won’t regret it. It’ll be a new opportunity for growth and building lifelong relationships.” Said Farley.
