“It’s just one of those days. I couldn’t really get comfortable; couldn’t really get settled in. My command just really wasn’t there. I wasn’t commanding my fastball whatsoever. When you pitch behind the counts like that, you’re setting yourself up to be in a whole,” Tigers’ sophomore pitcher Zack Hess said.
Hess only pitched 2.1 innings in the Tigers’ 10-5 loss to Notre Dame. He gave up eight runs, six walks and five hits in his time on the mound.
“This one’s on me. Our guys did good enough to win. I’ve got to do a better job as a starting pitcher.”
LSU and Notre Dame finish off their series Sunday morning. First pitch is 11 a.m., and Hess says that he isn’t going to harp too much on the last couple of games.
