BRPD arrested 20-year old Dyteon Simpson for the shooting of LSU basketball player Wayde Sims. The arrest was announced Saturday morning at a BRPD press conference.
Authorities say Simpson admitted to the shooting and was arrested without incident and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Authorities say Sims was stepping in to help a friend who was fighting with Simpson. In the scuffle, Simpson dropped his glasses which were tested for DNA and led to the arrest.
East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore said Simpson’s bond
LSU AD Joe Alleva released a statement on the arrest.
