LSU wide receiver Drake Davis is still facing charges of second-degree battery against his former girlfriend, said East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore following Davis’ bond hearing Monday, ESPN reported.
Davis was arrested on Friday and released on Saturday for $5,000 bond.
Davis’ ex-girlfriend reported to police four instances involving Davis within the past 18 months, according to an affidavit from East Baton Rouge Parish.
The first incident occurred when the victim asked Davis for personal items back, causing Davis to become angry and punch her in the stomach.
The second incident occurred in April of 2018. Davis became angry about the victim being out with friends and punched her in the left side of her stomach, fracturing her ribs.
The third incident occurred in Davis’ car. He became angry and threw her phone out the window. The victim exited the vehicle, and Davis drove off before returning and strangling her in the vehicle.
The final documented incident involved Davis becoming angry at a text message conversation with the victim and entering her apartment. He entered her room, strangled her, punched her and pulled her earring out, causing her ear to bleed.
According to the affidavit, the victim provided pictures of bruise marks and text message conversations, including a message from that he “might kill her.”
Marci Blaize, Davis’ attorney, told The Advocate that the alleged victim provided a statement saying that the allegations against Davis were false. Moore denied those claims.
Moore said that the woman requested to change her statement but “did not say she wants the charges dismissed.”
“The investigation will continue, and if the investigation is sufficient, we’ll file the appropriate criminal charges and have an arraignment at a later date,” Moore told ESPN.
Davis has been indefinitely suspended from the LSU football program.
Davis played in all 13 games last season, catching three passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
