The University is monitoring water pressure issues on campus and asking residents to conserve water and electricity where possible, according to a broadcast email sent to residents Thursday night.
In the email officials said on-campus housing is the University’s “top priority” and they’re doing everything they can to prevent residence further inconvenience.
Officials said they’re working with campus leaders to identify alternate sources of water for drinking. Currently, the water from faucets is OK to drink and use as is, according to media relations director Ernie Ballard.
According to a report from The Advocate, Baton Rouge Water Company spokesman Hays Owen denied the company was having problems with water pressure, despite the University’s claims.
“LSU campus is experiencing issues with [water] pressure,” Ballard said.
Campus transit is expected to operate under normal hours Thursday evening, from 5:30 p.m. until midnight.
Students were advised in the broadcast email that shaded areas, campus roads and sidewalks are still icy and potentially dangerous.
