A former University professor is pulling administrators into the courtroom after a judge ruled his most momentous claims against the University would go to trial.
Ivor van Heerden, former University professor and former deputy director of the University’s Hurricane Center, was fired after he claimed shoddy workmanship by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers caused the New Orleans levee failures during Hurricane Katrina. A judge ruled Oct. 20 that van Heerden can now take the University to court under his claim that the University retaliated by firing him.
