Student Government is partnering with Kaplan Test Prep to offer free practice tests Saturday for all major graduate school admissions exams.
The event will be held in Coates Hall from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and students will have the opportunity to take the GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT and DAT tests, according to John Parker Ford, SG chief of staff.
Two forms of the GRE will be offered at the event, said Patrice Hollins, Kaplan’s LSU campus representative.
“Students can take a paper test or a computer-based test, just like the actual [computer-based] GRE format,” Hollins said.
Results will be available at the Kaplan Center on the first floor of the Student Union at 1 p.m. on the same day of testing.
They will also be available for pick-up at the Kaplan Center the following week, Hollins said.
Registration will be available the morning of the event.
Students can pre-register for testing online at kaptest.com, by calling 1-800-KAP-TEST or by visiting Kaplan’s on-campus office.
Ford urged students to register in advance to ensure testing material availability.
This program was offered for the first time at the University in fall 2010, but only 91 students attended, Ford said.
The program was offered again for the spring 2011 semester, and student participation rose approximately 40 percent, according to Ford.
This semester, approximately 300 students have pre-registered, Hollins said.
Participation in the event is not limited to University students, Ford said.
“Anybody can participate: LSU students, Southern University students. If a 30 year-old guy decides he wants to go to grad school, he can come to the campus and take a practice test for free,” Ford said.
