NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Nearly 400 animal and plant species in the southeastern U.S. are part of a national push by the Obama administration to settle whether hundreds of varieties are endangered.
The administration agreed to consider whether more than 700 freshwater species — 374 of which are found from Virginia to Louisiana — deserve protection under the Endangered Species Act.
