The University has selected a search firm for Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Jack Hamilton’s replacement.
The executive search firm Greenwood/Asher & Associates Inc., of Florida, will bolster the University’s search committee, chaired by Thomas Klei, interim vice chancellor of research and economic development. Its newly-released position advertisement says the screening process for applicants will start on Jan. 25, 2012, about a week after the spring semester begins.
The firm and committee are encouraging University faculty and students to nominate people for the position and boasting it as a way to be an influential leader while the University climbs upward in national rankings and steps out of a budget-cut crisis.
“The Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost reports directly to the Chancellor and serves as the chief academic and operating officer of the university,” the position advertisement says. ”The Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost works closely with the Chancellor on both internal and external matters, guiding campus colleagues on strategic planning, academic initiatives, budgetary matters, and policy development.”
The salary for the position will be “competitive” and hinge on whomever fills the position’s qualifications, according to the position advertisement. Hamilton’s salary was $280,000 as of last spring.
Greenwood/Asher and Associates Inc. was also contracted by the Louisiana Board of Regents last year to conduct the nationwide search for the Commissioner of Higher Education position.
