YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton dined Thursday with former political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi, forcefully underscoring a U.S. challenge to Myanmar’s leaders on her historic visit: The new civilian government must expand recent reforms, including the release of political prisoners, to improve relations as it emerges from A half-century of repressive military rule.
Clinton called Suu Kyi a personal inspiration, and her meeting with the Nobel peace laureate was a highlight of her visit to Burma.
