Less than 24 hours after announcing the departure of wide receivers coach Tony Ball, LSU coach Les Miles replaced the first-year assistant with Auburn co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig on Sunday.
Craig’s hiring marks the second coordinator the Tigers lured away from a Power Five program this off-season. After serving as Wisconsin defensive coordinator for three seasons, Dave Aranda joined Miles’ staff in the same position on Jan. 1.
Craig rolls into Baton Rouge with national recruiting accolades as the Atlantic Coast Conference Recruiter of the Year in 2012 during his tenure at Florida State.
During his coaching career, Craig has either recruited or coached three quarterbacks, who were drafted in the First Round of the NFL Draft.
“Dameyune is a quarterback by nature so he’s going to be a tremendous asset to us in all phases of the passing game,” Miles said in a press release. “He coached a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback at Florida State and developed some outstanding receivers at Auburn.”
“He comes to us with great coaching credentials as well as being a proven recruiter. We look forward to the contributions that he’s going to bring to our football program.”
