This week’s playlist for The Pit featured the music of Sergei and Gabriel Prokofiev. Sergei Prokofiev is one of the greatest Russian composers of Western Classical music and his grandson, Gabriel Prokofiev, is also making his own mark in the classical world as well. The playlist was made with the idea of promoting the Prokofiev Symposium which was hosted by the LSU School of Music between Feb. 25th and Feb. 27th. It concluded with two world premiere performances of lost Sergei Prokofiev pieces and a Concerto for Bass Drum and Orchestra by Gabriel Prokofiev.
