Walk-On Henry Shortess Awarded Scholarship from LSU Basketball on Vimeo.
LSU junior guard Henry Shortess, who walked on to basketball team in 2013, has received a scholarship, the program announced on Thursday evening.
LSU coach Johnny Jones presented the news to Shortess in a team meeting following practice Thursday. Shortess is often lauded by Jones and players as critical to the Tigers’ preparation for each game.
Shortess, a Baton Rouge native, was a first team All-District selection twice at University High School. The 5-foot-9 guard has played in 15 total games in his career — five of which have come this season — recording eight points, two assists and two steals.
The business major was a member of Academic All-SEC team after his freshman year and is also an SEC Academic Honor Roll member.
