President Barack Obama visited the capital city for the first time during his presidency Thursday. Hundreds greeted President Obama as he entered McKinley High School auditorium.
Many students, and local politicians attended, including LSU basketball player Ben Simmons, newly elected Governor of Louisiana John Bel Edwards, Mayor of New Orleans Mitch Landrieu, and Mayor of Baton Rouge Kip Holden.

Mckinley High School is the first high school in Louisiana that provided high school education for black students. Making the president’s visit extremely significant for McKinley students and alumni.
President Obama was introduced by McKinley High School’s Student of the Year, Che’dra Joseph.

The president kept the crowd engage through a segment of Questions and Answers, between the crowd and himself. The crowd gave the president a standing ovation as left the stage.
