As students moved on with their lives this semester, the Baton Rouge Homicide Task Force worked diligently following up more than 7,800 leads on the serial killer investigation.
In September 2001, police found Gina Wilson Green, 41, murdered in her Stanford Avenue home.
Police still were investigating Green’s murder May 31, 2002 when they found Charlotte Murray Pace, 22, murdered in her Sharlo home. Two months later, on July 16, 2002, police found the body of Pam Kinamore in a secluded area of the Whiskey Bay exit off Interstate 10.
The Task Force linked the three homicides to one serial killer in August through DNA found at each crime scene.
After the Kinamore homicide, a witness called the Tipline and described a truck believed to hold Kinamore and the alleged killer. Another witness called the Task Force in November to issue a statement corroborating with the first witness’ account of the white truck seen the night of Kinamore’s death.
Police described the vehicle as a white, single cab, late ’80s model General Motors pickup truck. The truck reportedly had a black bumper with bad window tint and a dull paint job. The witness also reported dark splotches in the paint on the roof of the truck, possibly from peeling.
In the bed of the truck, the witness observed a folded tarp. The witness described the driver of the truck as a white male wearing some type of plaid or checkered clothing.
In connection with the first witness’ account in July, the witness also saw the truck exit I-10 at Whiskey Bay.
Cpl. Mary Ann Godawa of the Baton Rouge Police Department said the Task Force believes both witnesses saw the same white truck.
Though the witnesses’ descriptions contained some discrepancies, the Task Force said they are only searching for one white truck.
In addition to the description of the white truck, the Task Force also is searching for items missing from the victims.
Police recovered a Nokia 3510 cell phone belonging to Gina Green behind a building at 1546 Choctaw St. one week after her death. Green’s blue, black, pink, yellow and green striped purse also is missing.
Items unaccounted for after the Pace murder include Pace’s Mississippi drivers license, a small black and brown Louis Vuitton wallet with zip pocket, a BMW keychain with key attached, a black V-Tech portable handset and a sterling silver ring.
The only unaccounted item in the Kinamore murder is a silver toe ring.
