Brandi Sanders, a speech communication senior, will match intellectual wits with other college greeks in Wednesday’s episode of Weakest Link, themed “Greek Week.”
Sanders, a member of Delta Sigma Theta, said she got on the show by talking with Debra Kay, a contestant coordinator. The two immediately hit it off.
“We clicked with everything from shoes to clothes to TV shows, and she was like ‘I want you to come to L.A.'” Sanders said.
After two visits to California and meeting with producers, the show cast Sanders, among many other greek students, as a contestant.
She said competing on-air and against others who have made a career out of being game show contestants was very intimidating.
“One thing I learned is when you’re sitting at home watching the show you’re saying ‘How stupid can she be? I know that one,'” Sanders said. “But, when you get under the lights and they start asking questions, you’re like ‘uh, uh.'”
Sanders said host George Gray seems mean on television, but he was very nice in person.
“I know he makes everyone look so stupid, including me, but he’s really so nice and so funny,” Sanders said.
In the end, Sanders said her favorite part of being on the show was meeting so many people and making close friendships with some of the contestants.
“I know they show everyone saying they didn’t want someone to win or that they don’t like someone, and you do feel that way at the time,” Sanders said. “But I’m still really close with some of the people on the show.”
The show airs tonight at 11:35 p.m. on WBRZ, channel five.
