Students will get a chance to check out this fall’s latest video games Tuesday.
The Game Live Events 2003 Fall College Tour stops by the Union to display the newest games and demos from Electronic Arts, Ubi Soft, Midway, Eidos and the U.S. Army.
The tour features 50 state-of-the-art screens showcasing top-rated games for the PC, Playstation 2, GameCube and Xbox.
Antonio Capretta, founder of Game Live Events, said students will be able to see the latest technology from game developers including game controllers.
“Video games are extremely popular among college students,” Capretta said. “Everyone loves to try out games especially before they’re available to buy.”
Approximately 30 games are slated to appear at the live event.
The Electronic Arts games include “Madden NFL 2004,” “NCAA Football 2004,” “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004,” “NFL Street” and “SSX 3.”
Eidos brings the anticipated “Legacy of Kain: Defiance” and “Backyard Wrestling: Don’t Try This at Home” to LSU. Eidos also made the ever-popular “Tomb Raider” series.
Midway, the publisher who gave the world the “Mortal Kombat” and “NBA Jam” series, showcases games such as “Spy Hunter 2,” “NFL Blitz Pro” and “Road Kill.”
The developers of last year’s hit “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell” will bring a number of games to the event. Ubi Soft Entertainment will display three new Tom Clancy game titles along with “Prince of Persia” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” the game.
A free downloadable game for the PC will be available to preview as well.
“America’s Army” is a first-person shooter developed by the U.S. Army. It offers single player modes and online play up to 32 players.
Trial versions of games and other game-related merchandise also will be given away at the event.
More than 20,000 college students attended the 13-campus Spring Tour, which included the campuses of Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Tulane.
This game tour will stop at 17 college campuses across the nation.
The event lasts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Union’s Royal Cotillion Ball Room.
Admission to the event is free and game play is unlimited.
