Three people were arrested in the past month on unrelated charges.
LSUPD Capt. Ricky Adams said LSUPD officers on June 1 arrested Shawn McGonigal, 24, 1441 Jade Ave., Baton Rouge, on charges of DWI, suspended driver’s license and careless operation.
Adams said officers stopped McGonigal’s vehicle after observing it swerving and nearly hitting an off-duty officer in his vehicle in the area of Highland Road and Chimes Street.
McGonigal performed poorly on a field sobriety test and later was determined to have a blood alcohol content of .255, Adams said. He was later booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Adams said officers arrested University student Sarah Hill, 18, 16223 Rainbow Road, Houston, Texas, on June 8 on charges of improper lane usage, first-offense DWI, possession of marijuana and introducing contraband into a corrections facility.
Adams said around 2 a.m., officers observed a Honda Accord drifting across the center line.
Hill stumbled when walking and performed poorly on a field sobriety test, Adams said. She later was determined to have a blood alcohol content of .204.
After being transported to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, officers found marijuana and a pipe in Hill’s purse, Adams said.
Adams said officers arrested University student Eserogneag Odudu, 20, 208 Ridgewood Blvd., Alexandria, La., on June 11 for charges of simple battery.
A female in an elevator in the Life Sciences building told officers Odudu had placed his hand in her shorts and grabbed her buttocks. Odudu also allegedly began looking up the female’s shorts and whispering obscenities, Adams said.
Odudu was arrested and booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Adams said after the arrest, an LSUPD officer recognized that the events were similar to an incident in March on the corner of South Campus Drive and Highland Road.
Adams said because of the similarities in the event, officers compiled a photo lineup, and on June 17, Odudu was arrested again on another charge of simple battery stemming from the March incident.
