Many students go out into the professional world unprepared for job interviews or their future career. Fortunately, College to Career Seminar helps students prepare for their career.
College to Careers Guidance Seminar, a seminar that prepares students for the business world provides college students with information about the business world.
Lawrence Stuart, the founder of College to Careers, visits colleges across the country teaching students the vital skills needed to get a job.
This is the first year Stuart is visiting the University.
According to the College to Career pamphlet, the seminar’s mission is “to provide a comprehensive guidance program for the development of personal skills and job seeking techniques necessary for graduating college students as they prepare to enter the job market in today’s business world.”
The four-hour seminar teaches students how to interview, hunt for jobs, dress for an interview and research the company they are interested in. The seminar also gives students information about what a prospective employer is looking for and how to set realistic goals.
Pi Sigma Epsilon, a sales and marketing management fraternity, is helping with the event, which costs $50 to attend.
The fraternity has booths on campus that provide information about the event.
Katie Nuebel, president of Pi Sigma Epsilon, said the seminar gives students tips on how to transition into the work force.
The students receive information that makes them “more polished,” Nuebel said.
Stuart provides students with information about what to wear in a interview and how to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
After the seminar, students receive a book that contains advice on the work force.
In order to make students more confidant and secure, Stuart provides students with answers to hard questions.
“It helps you to stand out from everyone else and walk out of an interview feeling secure,” Nuebel said.
“Every student should do it, because just going to school doesn’t prepare you,” Ryan deJong, the Vice President of Finance in Pi Sigma Epsilon, said.
Students have three opportunities to take advantage of the seminars on March 12, 13 and 17 at the LSU Agriculture Administration Center.
For more information, students can visit the Pi Sigma Epsilon booths in front of CEBA and Cox Communication Building.
