The LSU Tigers defeated the Florida State Seminoles in the SEC/ACC challenge on Tuesday.
Coach Matt McMahon felt great about his team after beating a quality rival, and continuing the great level of play they’ve shown in the past three games.
“Really proud of our players, their effort was tremendous. Really guarded on the defensive end. Ball security was a huge concern coming in, Florida State was 3rd in the country forcing turnovers coming into the game, and we were able to limit those to eleven.”
LSU has scored more than 50 points in the second half in their last three games, coming back from discreet performances in the first half to elite performances to close their games.
“Once again to score 53 in the second half to a defense, that’s stat disruptive in Florida State is really a credit to our players.”
Not everything was great for the Tigers as Jaylen Reed got injured in the first minute of play. He would go limping to the locker room for an apparent knee injury.
“Jalen Reed, you saw the injury, has a sprain knee. He will be evaluated tomorrow and well have a further update after that testing is completed.”
After winning the game, LSU’s Head Coach went to the student section to take pictures and shake hands with fans. Something he believes is really important to create a relationship with students and bring more people in to support them.
“We are trying to be very intentional. We need the students in here. This arena gets loud when people are in here, and our guys are working their tails off. We are trying to get the students in the building and continue those efforts.”
Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton came in to the press conference ready to shoot some compliments at this LSU Men’s Basketball Team, which really made it tough for his team tonight, specially when shooting three pointers.
“They backed up, and made threes with confidence that I’m not even sure I would let my players shoot. They were the best version of who they are. If they can consistently do that night in and night out, they gonna be a hard task for a lot of teams that they’re facing.”
LSU will play at home against Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at 2 p.m. Then they will face another ACC rival in SMU.
