LSU Gymnastics is back in full swing as the season kicked off in the PMAC on Friday night.
The 2024 National Championship banner was proudly hung before the beginning of the meet as the team got to see their hard work put on display.
“It’s an honor to have something that permanently represents you in the PMAC and it not only represents last year and that incredible moment but, the 50 years of LSU Gymnastics that came before that and it also represents the future of LSU Gym,” said Senior Aleah Finnegan
The future of LSU gymnastics is looking bright as fans got to see a new lineup with different faces. Freshmen Kaliya Lincoln, Lexi Zeiss, and Kailin Chio all had chances to shine on opening night.
Chio, though, had maybe the most standout performances of the evening. She became the first freshman since Kiya Johnson in 2020 to compete All Around and bested Johnson’s score of 39.000 with her own 39.575.
“She’s got an edge to her that you don’t often see. Just a really drawn down serious competitor,” stated Jay Clark.
While Haleigh Bryant was not in tonight’s lineup, there’s a long season ahead and she’s sure to be apart of it.
The team will be back in the PMAC on January 17th for an SEC matchup against the Florida Gators.
