LSU gymnastics’ Kailin Chio was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after claiming her second straight all-around title in the Tigers’ 197.300-197.075 victory over No. 14 Alabama.
Chio earned a career-high 39.650 in the all-around in Tuscaloosa, helping lead LSU to their first SEC road victory of the year.
She has earned the SEC Freshman of the Week award and an all-around title in back-to-back weeks in her impressive debut season.
Chio’s performance in Tuscaloosa was highlighted by a career-high 9.975. She scored 9.850 on bars, 9.925 on beam and 9.900 on floor.
The freshman will get a chance to shine in the biggest meet of the season so far on Friday as the Tigers face No. 1 Oklahoma at 8 p.m. CT in the PMAC.
