A widespread electricity outage took place on LSU’s campus Monday morning.
The power went out around 11:45 a.m., halting classes in all corners of LSU’s campus. Power incrementally came back around campus over the next hour.
“[Monday’s] brief outage stemmed from work being performed in a nearby substation that feeds LSU. The upgrades being made were to enhance grid stability and meet growth demand on campus,” Entergy said in a statement.
LSU’s Testing Center was forced to dismiss some test-takers due to the outage, but was fully operational and letting in new students after obtaining power around 12:20 a.m. The university’s library closed for the rest of the day.
The outage also affected the University Laboratory School and the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool located near campus.
