We look into the top three goals in the NHL for the week. It was a tough week with many impressive matchups and goals, but the three that really stuck out were Sidney Crosby for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Adam Klapka for the Calgory Flames and Wyatt Johnston for the Dallas Stars.
Sidney Crosby did an absolute legendary skill, going parallel to the goal, making the goal on the tip of the glove of the goalie while also having two men from the opposing team, Utah Hockey Club, hot on his tail. He didn’t sweat it though, he remained cool, calm and collected and completed the goal, helping his team win in overtime.
Adam Klapka, being a six foot eight giant of a man, came from the side of the rink in opposing territory. He shocked the goalie, although the goalie kind of allowed too much space on the right side of the goal, which gave Klapka the leg up. Klapka absolutely dominated the chance he was given.
Wyatt Johnston didn’t really make an impressive goal, but he did complete an impressive stat. Johnston led his team to victory against the Las Vegas Golden Knights in overtime. Not only did he lead his team to a victory, but he also completed a natural hat trick and landed himself as the youngest player in Stars franchise history to do so, all at the age of 21 years old.
These were just the top three of the week, although there were many more throughout the NHL. This is the first installment of Lighting the Lamp and there will be more impressive goals to come.
