If your last few weeks of classes have looked anything like mine, I know you’re ready for a week of saying goodbye to 11:59 p.m. due dates and hello to relaxation.
With spring break being much later this semester than in the past few years, I think we all deserve a week of doing whatever we please. If you need some inspiration, here’s a guide to things to do no matter where you’re spending the week.
1. Spa Day
As I get deeper into my twenties I am prioritizing my health and wellness. So, it’s only natural that the first thing on my spring break itinerary is a spa day. It is booked, and I will be there ready to drink crisp lemon water and feel the coolness of cucumbers, preventing under-eye bags.
2. Take a road trip
If you’re interested in packing a bag and getting out of town for a while, whether it’s a day trip or a long vacation, make the most of it! Grab your favorite people, turn on a playlist to create a fun atmosphere and hit the road.
3. Rooftop movie
The average person doesn’t have the time to enjoy a film because of the hustle and bustle of everyday tasks. So far, I’ve watched 23 films this year, but I’m hoping to be at 30 by the end of the break. It can be from the comfort of your couch or local movie theatre; either way, watching movies is a must. If you want to take your cinematic experience up a notch, I recommend finding a rooftop cinema club near you! Some rooftop movie club locations include Chicago, Houston, Texas, Los Angeles, California and many more. What’s better than watching Twilight, having the city skyline as your backdrop? Absolutely nothing.
4. Stroll
Take a stroll through your local grocery store and play a silly little game of what I like to call, “How many people from your past can you avoid?” You’d be amazed at how many people you’re capable of dodging pointless conversations with.
5. Tennis/ Pickleball
Channel your inner sporty spice. If Tashi Ducan can do it, so can you. Lorde said it best: “Let’s go down to the tennis courts and talk it up like yeah.”
6. Spend time in the sun
Poolside or beach vibes, boat days and picnics—it’s all good. Stay hydrated, and don’t forget your SPF!
7. Spend time doing something you don’t normally get to focus on.
Priorities, priorities, priorities, a word I’m all too familiar with as a college student. Spring Break isn’t just about doing something that feels like a precursor to summer; it’s also about enjoying a hobby you’ve pushed to the side. Personally, I’m looking forward to cracking open a book. It’s been way too long since I’ve found myself deep in the pages of a world so far from my own.
8. Museums, sculpture gardens and galleries
Spend a few hours admiring classic and contemporary works of art. Grab your headphones and curate an art-watching playlist for you and your friends to have a shared musical experience.
9. Do absolutely nothing
Lay in the grass, stare at the clouds and choose your choice of playlist to be the soundtrack of your week.
May your spring break be happy, safe and relaxing.
