After LSU Gymnastics came up short in the semifinal round of the NCAA national championships, all-arounder Haleigh Bryant spoke to media about what the team has accomplished this season.
“We have so much to be proud of this whole season,” Bryant said. “I’m really proud of the fight and what we did tonight no matter what happened or what the results were. I’m just proud of this team for everything we’ve gone through this year.”
Bryant also talked about the similarities between her and freshman Kailin Chio, who some could say Bryant has passed the torch to moving forward.
“I think we kind of have the same mindset and approach going into competitions,” Bryant said. “We don’t really have so much energy, we’re not always the type to be dancing on the bus or doing the other little things so I feel like I can kind of see myself in her a little bit.”
This meet marks Bryant’s last performance as a Tiger, so she also touched on the legacy she will leave behind at LSU.
“If you would’ve asked me, however many years ago, what I would accomplish at LSU it would probably be to compete one time and just be with this team. I think just getting the opportunity the past five years to get to do this sport with the best people was just so so special.”
Bryant also mentioned she is excited to come back as an alumna to watch her former teammates shine and is walking out of Dickies Arena and her whole career at LSU with no regrets.
