LSU Baseball stumbled against fellow Louisiana school Northwestern State Tuesday night getting run-ruled by the Demons 13-3.
Outfielder Josh Pearson briefly spoke with the media about the team’s first midweek game loss.
Even though his coach didn’t speak to the team after the loss, Pearson heard Johnson’s message loud and clear.
“We kinda got the message even though there wasn’t much to say,” Pearson said.
“It was rough out there, we just got to keep getting better everyday and compete this weekend,”.
When asked what his biggest takeaways from the loss was, Pearson spoke about what he hopes to see moving forward into the weekend.
“We still have a lot of work to do. We are not a complete team by any means and we’re just going to attack everyday and get one percent better everyday,”.
The Tigers have been great at responding to adversity all season, snagging multiple wins after being faced with a deficit but when asked about why they just couldn’t seem to get their footing Tuesday, Pearson said he wasn’t sure why they left so many gaps open.
“I’m not sure… maybe it was the weather but thats things we cant control and shouldn’t affect how we play… just a lot of work to do,”.
When asked specifically about the lightning delay that happened at the top of the third and paused the game for over an hour, Pearson did not want to use that as an excuse for the team’s performance.
“I don’t want to say it caused anything because both teams were in a delay at the same time so it affected them just as much as it affected us. We should have come out hotter and ready to play,”.
The Purple and Gold will look to shake this loss off and focus on the future, as they are set to face the reigning national champions in No. 6 Tennessee this weekend at home.
First pitch of the series will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Alex Box.
