The Chicago Sky defeated the Brazil National Team 89-62 on Friday night in the PMAC.
Sky rookie and former LSU Women’s Basketball player Hailey Van Lith showcased her skill set in her WNBA debut, leaving Head Coach Tyler Marsh excited about her future.
“I mean she showed no fear tonight, and that’s not easy to do as a rookie,” Marsh said. “It was great to get her minutes and get her reps with different units.”
Van Lith scored seven points in the matchup, while also finishing with five assists and three steals. She was able to draw several fouls and create opportunities to get her team more points on the board.
Angel Reese, who in addition to Van Lith, was embraced by the Purple and Gold faithful from the moment they stepped onto the court.
While Reese continues to show her dominance on the glass finishing with 10 rebounds, Marsh is looking forward to her growth as a three-point shooter as well.
“It’s step-by-step,” Marsh said. “We don’t know when it’s going to come, or how it’s going to come…but I mean ‘Yea,’ at some point that’s where we want to get it.”
The Chicago Sky are heading into the 2025 season with both Reese and Van Lith on their rosters.
