The LSU vs. UCLA game that started at 6:00 P.M. Monday is finally finished 16 hours later, and the Fighting Tigers continue to cruise through the winner’s bracket with a final score of 9-5.
The UCLA Bruins struck first securing three runs in the top of the first off of LSU’s Anthony Eyanson.
When it was LSU’s turn at the plate, they relit the flame and were on fire for the rest of the game. Outfielder Jake Brown hit a perfect single, which sent designated hitter Ethan Frey home. Then a bomb from none other than first baseman Jared Jones raised the score to 4-3.
LSU would gain one more run off a Luis Hernandez single before the weather delay would begin. Both teams waited in the dugouts, while it was continuously pouring rain. When it hit around the two hour mark, the NCAA decided to postpone the remainder of the game to 10 A.M. on Tuesday.
The biggest question coming into the remainder of the game was “who was going to pitch for the rest of the game?”. Casan Evans would answer the call and have his shove day.
LSU would stay hot at bat and score another five runs. Cooper Williams would relieve Casan Evans and allow two runs for the Bruins.
LSU avoids having to play two games in one day, but they lost Tuesday as a practice day. With no day off, the Tigers will play the winner of the Arkansas vs. UCLA game. Either opponent would have to beat LSU twice to advance to the College World Series Finals.
